Data Visualization & Analysis in Virtual Reality

Immersive Tools for Scientific Research

ImmSci builds VR applications that let researchers visualize and interact with complex datasets in immersive 3D on Meta Quest. Our tools span two core technologies — multidimensional point data visualization for coordinate and parameter data, and volumetric rendering for 3D image stacks and datacubes — applied across astronomy and biomedical imaging.

All apps are designed for working scientists — explore your data, identify features, and export results for follow-up with traditional pipelines.

StarGateVR
Pairs voice-driven AI with multi-wavelength astronomical catalog access for interactive exploration and collaborative analysis.

AstroCubeVR
Brings radio telescope FITS datacubes into navigable 3D volumes with full WCS coordinate support.

ConfocalVR
Renders 3D confocal microscopy stacks for spatial analysis.

FlowGateVR
Enables 3D gating of flow cytometry data.

About

Background

Immersive Science (ImmSci) builds VR tools for scientific research, designed in collaboration with working researchers. Our applications let users visualize, query, and analyze complex datasets in immersive 3D on Meta Quest — with voice-driven AI assistance for data retrieval, cross-matching, and exploration. Current products span astronomy (StarGateVR) and biomedical imaging (ConfocalVR).

Best Use

ImmSci’s tools are built for the early stages of research, where a scientist is looking for structure. Traditional analysis tools are optimized for precision but can obscure structure in complex, high-dimensional datasets. Our VR applications let researchers see that structure in immersive 3D, identify patterns and candidates, then export enhanced datasets for follow-up with conventional pipelines. StarGateVR adds a conversational AI interface: speak your questions, and the system queries astronomical archives on your behalf. The retrieval, cross-matching, and data munging are the AI’s job. The discovery belongs to the scientist.

ImmSci’s tools have been featured in The Journal of Molecular Biology and highlighted in Nature Toolbox and GeekWire. Following publication, ConfocalVR was downloaded by researchers at more than 200 institutions worldwide.
